In this outdoor workshop, pupils will explore habitats and hunt for bugs in our redeveloped garden.
Pupils will meet a lost minibeast who needs their help. A short story sets the scene for the class to hunt for bugs in different garden habitats and help the lost minibeast find its home and friends.
Workshop rundown
- Listen to a story about how a lost spider found its home.
- Explore our garden and several different habitats using small tools to find minibeasts and help reunite our lost friend with its home.
- Notice similarities and differences between animals they find and learn to identify some common minibeasts.
Year 1 classes will also:
- Describe the animals they find so they can be recognised in the future.
Year 2 classes will also:
- Compare animals found in two different habitats.
- Identify the characteristics which help animals live in their habitat.

How to book
All workshops must be prebooked by phone. The dates listed above are not live and you will need to contact us for availability.
You can book for dates up to October 2024, during term time. Bookings must be made at least three weeks in advance.
This workshop is suitable for EYFS and KS1.
The maximum capacity per workshop is 35 pupils. Bookings must be for a minimum of 15 pupils.
