Superfamily Conuloidea Lambert, 1911, p. 27

[ex. Conulidea Kroh & Smith, 2010, p. 171.]

Diagnosis Echinoneoida with:
  • small central peristome with inturned edge;
  • periproct marginal to submarginal, separated from the peristome by multiple interambulacral plates.
Type Conulus Leske, 1778
Species Included This taxon includes the following families; Conulidae, Galeritidae and Neoglobateridae.
Remarks Conulidea are immediately distinguished from members of the Echinoneidae by the position of their periproct.  In Echinoneidae the periproct opening is separated from the periproct by a very short distance only.  The superfamily was proposed by Kroh & Smith (2010, p. 171).
