Tring: Adult SEND offer
Book a free tactile tour or a hands-on workshop designed for adults with additional needs. Get up close to real specimens, enjoy crafts or take an audio-described highlights tour.
Visiting with an adult group who have additional needs? We provide free handling workshops and tactile tours for groups of 5–30 people.
Activities may be split into two sessions, each session lasting 30–60 minutes. We usually offer them in the afternoon during term-time weekdays, but they shouldn’t start later than 16.00. Sessions might occasionally be scheduled in the morning.
You must book at least two weeks in advance. Speak to our team to discuss options for dates, times and logistics for your group.

Tactile Tour
Join us for a special, audio-described highlights tour of our best specimens specially created for blind and partially sighted adults.
From bizarre cassowaries to a charismatic polar bear and a larger-than-life giant ground sloth, we have plenty of specimens for you to get to know. Plus, you’ll get to touch some of our handling specimens to bring the tour to life.
SENDsational Adults
Choose between the following two themes and get hands-on with real specimens:
discover the wildlife that lives in your local area, including foxes, hedgehogs and invertebrates, and craft a stag beetle to take away with you
let our Oceans Workshop transport you to the seaside with shells, turtles and animals that you may not have seen before
Accessibility information
- These events are fully wheelchair accessible.
- Let your guide know if you’d like to use the available seating along the tour route.
- Guide dogs are welcome at the Museum. Water for them is available on request.
- We can provide you with a wheelchair or folding chair to carry if you email us.
