This is an iron meteorite. It is part of the Henbury iron meteorite that was found as hundreds of fragments in a series of craters in the Northern Territory. It is made of an alloy of iron and nickel. One face of the meteorite has been cut and polished, to show the pattern that is made in the metal as the iron and nickel atoms slowly cooled in the core of an asteroid. >
