Our iconic New Year's Eve event is back, giving you the chance to disco with our dinos and party it up Jurassic style.

Following our sold-out New Year's Eve event in 2019, we're ringing in 2023 with an unforgettable prehistoric celebration.

Get ready to throw some shapes beside a Diplodocus, roar at our silent disco and marvel at our Jurassic-themed activities and performers. Assemble your friends for a night you won't forget!

Musical Bingo is back by popular demand, along with an epic live band, dino-themed activities and the chance to explore many of our galleries after dark.

After years of dampened celebrations, secure your spot at a wild New Year's Eve party that will go down in natural history. 

Your ticket includes:

  • live music and DJs
  • silent disco
  • musical bingo
  • access to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition
  • a complimentary beer, wine or soft drink
  • access to selected galleries after dark

Jurassic disco fancy dress is strongly encouraged and there'll be a prize for best dressed. The winning outfit will be decided by the evening's host with a little help from the crowd. 

Bars will be serving drinks and light refreshments throughout the night. 

Guests are not permitted to bring alcohol into this event. Security will be checking bags at the door. There will be a cloakroom available free of charge throughout the night.

    Doors open at 20.00, last entry at 22.00 and event ends at 1.30.

    This event is for adults aged 18 and over. A valid form of photo ID must be shown on entry. The Museum operates a challenge 25 policy.

    Bag searches will be in operation.

    Visitors are not permitted to bring their own alcohol - any alcohol will be confiscated.

    Visitors must bring an electronic or printed copy of their ticket.

    No refunds or exchanges will be given.

    This event is wheelchair accessible.

    There will be a cloakroom in operation.

    The complimentary drink will be a choice of beer, wine or a soft drink.

    The Museum reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the event as required, such as adjusting the locations, timings or content of the activities. This is to ensure that we deliver a safe and excellent experience for all guests at all times.

    Photography and filming may take place during this event, in which you may be identifiable. These images may be used for Museum marketing purposes on the website, social media and printed publicity materials. If you have any concerns about being photographed, please speak to a member of staff at the event.

    Ticket prices are subject to change.

    Tickets cannot be resold or transferred. If you can no longer attend the event, please contact after-hours@nhm.ac.uk, we can try to sell your ticket to someone on the waiting list. 

    If you attempt to enter the event with a ticket that has been resold without the Museum's written consent, you may be refused entry to, or ejected from, the Museum and no compensation will be payable to you by us. Find out more in our ticketing terms and conditions.

    Is this event sold out?

    This event is now sold out. Please sign up to the waitlist for the chance to buy tickets should they become available.

    I can no longer make the event, can I have a refund?

    If you can no longer make the event, we will offer your tickets to the waitlist and refund you should they sell.

    Will food and drink be available to purchase?

    Each guest will receive one free drink upon entry. There will be selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available to purchase. There will also be light snacks available to buy.

    Which areas will be open?

    Guests will have access to Hintze Hall, Earth Hall, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, the Dinosaur Gallery, The Lost Rhino – An Installation with Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg and Images of Nature. This will also be one of the last opportunities to see Dippy Returns: The Nation’s Favourite Dinosaur.

    What time can I arrive?

    Doors open at 20.00 at the Cromwell Road entrance to the Museum. Last entry will be at 22.30. If you arrive early, you may be asked to queue outside the main gates, so please dress for December in London.

    Which entrance will be in use?

    Cromwell Road, main entrance.

    I can’t find my tickets, what should I do?

    Please email after-hours@nhm.ac.uk stating your booking number and a short explanation of your situation and we will process the reissuing of your tickets. 

    What time will the event finish?

    The event will finish at 01.30 however, some activities will end before this time. Last orders at the bar will be 01.00.

    Is there a dress code?

    There is no official dress code, you may dress how you feel most comfortable. The theme for this event is Jurassic Party, so please do feel free to dress up with this in mind.

    I have a very elaborate costume planned, are there any restrictions?

    If you plan to wear an elaborate costume, please wear appropriate clothing underneath. You may be asked to remove your costume if there are any health and safety concerns.
