[=Kephreinia Lambert & Thiery, 1921, p. 371 ]

Diagnostic Features
  • Test of medium size, ovate, elongate, moderately inflated, with a flat oral surface slightly sunken towards the peristome.
  • Apical system anterior, monobasal, with four genital pores.
  • Petals equal, bowed, with broad interporiferous zones and narrow poriferous zones, tapering distally but remaining open. Pores strongly conjugate, inner pores circular, outer pores transversely elongate, ambulacral plates beyond petals with single pores.
  • Peristome anterior, pentagonal, long than wide; sunken with vertical walled entrance.
  • Periproct marginal, just visible adorally, transverse with slight subanal invagination.
  • Bourrelets weakly developedforming slight mounds around peristome.
  • Phyllodes widened, single pored, with two series in each half-ambulacrum.
  • Buccal pores present.
  • Naked sternal zone in interambulacrum 5.
Distribution
  • Eocene of Egypt.
Name gender feminine
Type
Kephrenia lorioli Fourtau, 1909, p. 139, by original designation.
Species Included
  • Kephrenia lorioli Fourtau, 1909; Eocene, Egypt.
Classification and/or Status

Irregularia; Cassiduloida; Echinolampadidae.

Monotypic.

Remarks

Kephrenia is similar to Pliolampas but has a more marginal periproct, and narrower poriferous zones in its petals, that taper distally. In Pliolampas the periproct is inframarginal, while the poriferous zones of the petals are very broad and remain open distally (Kier, 1962).
