Summary

Currently Data Portal Lead Architect, managing the development of the Museum's new open data platform (data.nhm.ac.uk). I also developed a live crowdsourcing workflow for Science Uncovered 2014, a public showcase of the Museum's digitisation work (http://su2014.benscott.co.uk/). Previously I worked as senior developer on the Museum’s EU-funded ViBRANT project, helping build the Scratchpads scientific data collaboration platform.

Before joining the Museum I ran Brighton Digital, contracted to build websites for public sector and charitable organisations including Comic Relief, AgeUK, the NHS and Greenwich University, along with many SMEs. I also co-founded and built richseam.com, an award winning tech startup using linked open data to power music recommendations.

I am an open data, open science and open source enthusiast, and enjoy finding creative solutions to digital challenges.
