Summary

Bird Collection Currently it consists of about 30,000 copies, preserved in the form of skins naturalized and prepared for scientific study; skeletons: the vast majority disjointed; eggs and nests; whole specimens and immersed in fluids (70% ethyl alcohol). It is inventoried by 87.4% and this inventory is fully computerized. Regarding the taxonomic composition, they are represented all areas of the Class Aves, 162 families, 1,223 genera and 2,660 species. The Spaniards are 12,400 copies belonging to 75 families and 380 species, all Spanish regions being represented.

Brief history

Founded in 1771 when King Carlos III obtained the colls. of Pedro Franco Dávila; now part of the Vicedirección de Colecciones y Documentación of CSIC, a governmental organisation
