The Natural History Museum's science mission is to explore the diversity of the natural world and the processes that generate this diversity. We aim to use the knowledge gained to promote responsible interaction with the natural world. Fundamental to this mission is taxonomy - the theory and practice of naming, describing and classifying organisms. Our research projects aim to reflect our mission. By no means are all of our research activities included in this database, but we are working to make more of our projects available online.
