Subfamily Hyposaleniinae Mortensen, 1934, p. 165

Diagnosis Saleniidae with:
  • periproct lying on anterior-posterior axis bounded by suranal plate and posterior three genital plates;
  • tubercles imperforate throughout;
  • ambulacral plating bigeminate; sometimes unigeminate aborally.
  • Range Late Jurassic (Oxfordian) to Early Palaeocene (Danian); Europe, North Africa and Former Soviet Union.
    Classification and/or Status Calycina, Salenioida, Saleniidae
    Remarks Readily distinguished from Saleniinae by having the periproct symmetrically positioned along the axis between ambulacrum III and interambulacrum 5.
