Diagnostic Features
  • Test shape ?spherical; plating thin and imbricate.
  • Apical disc unknown.
  • Ambulacra more or less straight and narrow; biserial. Plating simple with pore-pair on each plate, positioned adradially. Radial water vessel completely internal; no perradial flanges.
  • Interambulacral zones wide; composed of about 6 semiregular columns of polygonal plates.
  • Tuberculation unknown (based on internal mould).
  • Peristome small, plating unknown.
  • Lantern and spines unknown.

Species Included
  • Two other species have been included in this species, L. hunti Cooper, 1931, and L. whitnalli Cooper, 1931, both from the Devonian of the USA.

Stem group Echinoidea; Lepidocentridae.

Nomen dubium.

Remarks

The type species for this genus is based on an internal mould of the lower surface of a test. It is probably a lepidocentrid, close to Palaeodiscus, but meaningful comparisons are impossible given the inadequate state of knowledge we have about this taxon.
