dos department of normandy France. I hope that you can still help with my enquiry. My sister in law cut an apple tree down at easter 2012 and last weekend I started to resaw the log into usable pieces. I found a number of these larvae. They were quite small close to the bark with the largest being about 25mm in length about 75mm deep into the wood.
Is it the larvae from a longhorn beetle? I have kept one to show the children in a small plastic tube with a paper towel stufed in the end. The larvae has started to eat the paper. Will it survive and or "hatch" out under these conditions?
