What is this ladybird-like beetle?

There were dozens of these on our runner bean plants today, all close together.  They look something like ladybirds, but they have smooth red convex undersides and they are very rounded.

They are about 4mm wide and 5mm long.

Do you think these are a type of ladybird, or something else?  Please help us to identify!  Thanks.
