I have dozen if not hundreds of tube webs all over the outside of house and I live not far from the Medway. at first i was quite happy to leave them. extremely scared of spiders but if i can't see it i'm alright. saw one at the weekend when my brother decided to trip the web with a blade of grass, it was huge and i screamed very loudly and shot into the house. I thought they stayed outside so was not overly worried, but then i found out they can wander and have just found one under my sons toys when i was tidying up. it was quite large.
I really need to know if Tube web spiders are dangerous to children? my 20 month old has breathing problems and i'm worried that if he was bitten it could be serious. Although I have a serious phobia so i'm now sitting in here shaking with fear. i would at least feel a bit better if i know there wasn't a danger to my young children.
Please help i'm really terrified, also if anyone could tell me a way to stop them coming in, i would be very grateful. i feel like crying i'm so scared.
I don't think they are dangerous, but you should avoid handling them so you don't get bitten. They are not going to come after your children to bite them. They live happily in their retreats from which they get out very little at night.
