Lots of these on the beach-often close to seaweed. Would love to know what they are.
They're Velella Velella ,see http://www.marlin.ac.uk/speciesinformation.php?speciesID=4560 ,which describes it as a 'colonial hydroid' & shows it as beautifully blue when fresh; but after a while on the beach they become transparent.They're an open ocean species' but occasionally washed ashore.
