Hi Everyone - first post for a newbie so please be gentle!
This bug (see pics) came flying into the house - at first I thought it was a daddy longlegs due to the way it flew but closer up it resembled the stripes of a wasp but due to it's long slender body I wasn't so sure. FYI, we live near High Wycombe / Amersham in the UK.
Thanks very much for the ID. Not seen a crane fly in this area before - I presume the warm weather has something to do with it. Perhaps some of the more rarer species might also be around this area... which might be useful in thinking how to prevent the new proposed H2S line that is going to be coming through this area..
