Another grasshopper

Last time I posted here a bright green grasshopper was stalking me, this time I opened my window to find a dark brown one sat on my window sill. It's waaaaay uglier than the green one and I was scared it would jump at me as I was taking photos. I tried to take some good clear shots of it. Anyone know what this one is called?

Also, what is that horn thing on its ass? Does it stab?

It is not a grasshopper - grasshoppers have short antennae and don't have that "horned thing"; it's a Bush Cricket (which do have really long antennae).

Most likely it is a female Dark Bush-cricket, Pholidoptera griseoaptera.

The "horned thing" is an ovipositor - the males don't have them.

They are totally harmless - and a lot of fun!
