Does anyone know what plant this is? I've been trying to identify it for hours...
Thank you for the rapid response!
The sap is white. I thought I caught a bit of a blueish tint to it but it must've been the angle and light. More info: the leaves are about 2mm thick, and we both are currently in Israel! (Yes, of all places! )
My first & strongest instinct is that it may be a Euphorbia species based on the leaf shape, pattern of leaf scars and sap colour. But it could also possibly be a member of the Fig genus - Ficus... Unfortunately without flowers I cannot get you further than that I'm afraid.
Luckily Euphorbia flowers are odd to say the least and no other genera has anything quite like them... Fig flowers are also very distinctive - small round structures, most likely coming directly off the main branch of the plant.
Sorry I couldn't help you further...
I think I found it! Synadenium grantii. (I think it's indeed a Euphorbia species)
Thanks so much, Jen! You stirred me in the right direction with the sap colour question - a bit of googling and I got it!
Have a lovely day
