I found this the other day down by a river near Christchurch in Dorset. Is it some sort of fossil or is it just one of nature's odd shaped rocks?
Thanks in advance
It is tempting to see it as a vertebra, but I don't see any cellular structure suggestive of bone. I suspect you are right in that it is just an odd-shaped rock (the green colouration is probably due to algae).
Hopefully I'll find something a bit more interesting than a stone next time.
Interesting find but I think it is possibly flint.
You know what you are looking for though, so please post any more finds for us to id.
