False Widow?

Could this be a a false widow spider?

I found it last night in my bathroom. This morning it was hiding behind the toilet seat.

It's made a web then went to the floor and is now hiding under a toilet roll!

Any advice would be appreciated as I have a very inquisitive 2 year old!.

Very difficult to say from that photo Emma.

Google "Zygiella x-notata", how does that compare to your spider (stripey legs, flare/feather like central marking on abdomen, head is black in the middle but brown at the sides)?

Here is a steatoda nobilis for reference...

        Emma,

I understand your concern (I had a phobia of spiders for the first 42yrs on my life), but the spider isn't going to attack you, or leap at you. Even if it is a false widow, it is just going to run for cover.
