Lucky photo!

I was out this morning and saw a small blue that I didn't think I'd seen before.

I was worried that it would be another case of a blue butterfly keeping its wings open and I'd never know the identity of the species. But it changed its position to another bush and kept its wings closed so I did my best to take some photos of the underwing. When I got home I discovered that it was a species I hadn't seen before (Black-eyed Blue (Glaucopsyche melanops), unless anyone knows different) and one of my photos had been taken just as it was laying an egg.

I'd like to say I'd planned it  ... but is was just a lucky photo. Hope you like it.

It is very similar to the Glaucopsyche paphos (Paphos blue) I get here (western Cyprus) earlier in the year.

If yours are like mine, they are skittish little things, not the most cooperative for the photographer. But they are adorable.
