Fossils found in Grand Canyon - Havasu Falls area

Fossil1.jpg

Can anyone identify these two fossils. The first was about 1ft long, and the round one about 8" diameter. They are still in situ, until the next rains of course. There may be more than one fossil in the top one.Fossil2.jpg

  • I don't think it's really possible to say much about these without much more detailed close-up shots. If you still have the original images, could you perhaps add a few zoomed image?

    Thanks!

  • No problem, Gill!

I also suspect they are pseudofossils (rock formations that look deceptively like fossils), but that first one, in particular, looks to be worth a closer look just in case...

If you could take a close-up of one of the creamy-white coloured patches in the first rock - as close as you can get it whilst not being too out of focus - that would be a huge help. The reason I ask is I'd like to get a closer look at the texture of those sections, and see if there's any distinct mineral or fossil patterning to them.

    Thanks!
