Hoveryfly - Melanostoma spp?

Anyone got any ideas on this critter?

I found it while testing out my new camera, so not necessarily the best for species level identification im afraid, but fingers crossed a better entomologist than me sees this!

I suspect it’s a female Melanostoma spp, possibly Melanostoma scalare? Ecologist I may be insects are not my forte sadly. It was seen in South West Dorset, about 1 mile from the sea in a garden, on the 4th of august.

Thanks
