Combine deep breathing and relaxation with slow and graceful movements with a unique Tai Chi class hosted in collaboration with Dao Lu C.I.C..

Join us bright and early for a Tai Chi class underneath Hope our blue whale followed by exclusive access to one of our galleries before it opens to the public.

De-stress, connect with nature and improve your balance, coordination and concentration through a series of Tai Chi movements in our magnificent Hintze Hall for a wellbeing experience among the treasures of the natural world.

Tickets include access to Wildlife Photographer of the Year after you've finished your class.

This class is suitable for all experience levels.

  • Important information

    This event is for those aged 18 and over.

    Bookings are required. Tickets are not available for purchase on the door.

    No refunds will be given. You may change your booking to an alternative date as long as you inform us at least 30 days before the date of your original booking. Alternative dates are subject to availability and must take place within one year of your original booking. There will be a £10 admin fee for moving a ticket.

    Doors will open 15 minutes before the class begins. Entry is via the main entrance on Cromwell Road.

    Doors open at 7:45am and the sessions starts promptly at 8am. Your Tai Chi class will end at approximately 9:15am. When you're finished you're welcome to explore the Museum including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Fossil Marine Reptiles and Birds Gallery. 

    Cloakroom: The cloakroom will not be open during this event, we advise travelling light.

    The event will begin promptly and we cannot allow entry more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time.

    Please note that photography and filming may take place during this event and these images may be used for Museum marketing purposes. If you have any concerns about being photographed, please speak to a member of staff at the event.

    The Museum reserves the right to make any necessary changes to the event as required, such as adjusting the locations, timings or content of the activities. This is to ensure that we deliver a safe and excellent experience for all guests at all times.

    What to bring

    • Comfortable clothes and extra layers. The temperature at the Museum fluctuates throughout the year so make sure you have clothing to put on or take off so that you're comfortable throughout the session.
    • A reusable water bottle. The Museum is working hard to reduce its carbon footprint, so single-use plastic bottles are not available for sale.

    Health Information

    It is your responsibility to determine, through obtaining appropriate medical advice, that you are fit and well to take part in the event. Before commencing any exercise regime, you should consult your doctor.

    Guests can also sit doing Tai Chi if they need to. Chairs are available, please ask the teacher if you require a chair at any point.

    Guests who are pregnant must advise the teacher and be aware that if they are in the first trimester they may not be able to take class. This is entirely at the individual teacher's discretion. If the teacher agrees to you participating in class, this is at your own risk.
