Moss Type Specimens at the Natural History Museum
The Moss Type Image Database will provide information about the moss collections in the Natural History Museum, London. The database will be searchable by the name of the organism, by the name of the person who collected the original specimen or described the species, by the area of the world where it was collected, or by the publication in which the species was described or discussed.
The search will list specimens, providing information on the original description (or protologue) and each specimen, including images.
Information on individual collectors and authors, including images of handwriting samples, is also available.
The database is planned for launch in summer 2005
