- The drawing is inscribed in brown ink in a panel at bottom centre with the title "A View of the Entrance Into Port Jackson Harbour the South head bearing NNW Dist 3 or 4 Miles -".
- The drawing is unsigned and undated.
- T. M. Perry suggests the location might by the entrance to Broken Bay, with Lion Island in the centre, rather than that of Port Jackson.
