Flowering tree or shrub, with detail of flower, against a plain background. The lower half of the sheet contains a view of the whole tree including the root system. It has a slender brown trunk, and the foliage is represented by individual pointed leaves and red and yellow flowers. Above it is a detail of a flowering branch, illustrating the small, narrow linear leaves, round brown seed cases, and pea-like flowers with yellow petals marked with red towards the centre. The drawing is annotated in brown ink.

  • The drawing is inscribed in blue pencil at top right with the number "388", which refers to the pre-1984 numbering system for the Watling collection.
  • The drawing is annotated in brown ink at upper centre, alongside a detail of the flower, "Natural size, July", and at bottom "This Plant is generally found in dry sandy soil growing to the heigth of 5 or 6 feet."
  • The drawing is unsigned and undated.
