hide detailed image description

Half-length portrait of an Aboriginal man against a plain background, the base of the figure underlined in black ink. His right hand is extending and holds a fish hook or ornament of shell on a short length of line. His jaw-length hair is decorated with hanging tooth and bone ornaments, and his body is painted in white with the outline of a striated band which appears to run from his upper arms towards the back of his shouders, and down across his chest. His skin is brown overlaid with black serpentine lines representing cicatrices on his upper arms and chest. The drawing is annotated in brown ink and framed by a pencil border.
