Dear Acarologists,

I am working with a systeme comprising beans, bruchid beetles
(Coleoptera) and hymenopteran parasitoids. Our insect colonies are
attacked by the mite Pyemotes ventricosus (grain itch mite).
Would anybody have an idea how to eliminate the mites without arming =
our
insects??
Thanks a lot for your help!!

Dear Alex
The miticides Trevi (Active ingredient:Hexythiazox, Sandoz, only against
eggs and larval stades), Apollo (Clofentenzin, Maag, only ovizide)and Torque
(Fenbutatin oxide,Bayer, active against all Stades)are mainly active against
mites and are considered "Nuetzlingsschonend" = "harmless for beneficial
insects". I'd try to use one of these miticides.
Good luck

Marcus
