Karine Aigner (USA) documents the annual hunting competitions in Texas, USA.
A team of hunters taking part in a 24-hour predator-killing contest returns to their truck with a coyote. Rules and categories for such competitions vary. Some predator-killing contests give cash prizes for the heaviest animal, others for the most shot. Some allow individuals to participate alone, others require teams of two or more. This team was targeting coyotes, bobcats and raccoons.
Various techniques are used to ‘call in’ predators. A common one is to play the recorded distress calls of its prey, such as the sound of an injured rabbit, for example. Once the animal comes into range, contestants shoot it.
