Nichole enjoys watching bluebirds near her family home, especially during their breeding season. One morning she rose before sunrise to check on a nest site and captured this newly fledged chick eagerly awaiting a delivery of breakfast from its parent.
Eastern bluebirds feed mainly on insects and berries, and often hover while plucking their catch from the ground. Both bluebird parents forage to feed their young. They bring insects such as butterfly larvae, grasshoppers and beetles to their nestlings’ readily open beaks.

Nichole got her passion for travel from her dad, who loves wildlife photography and has taken her on many trips since she was a baby, including to India, Africa and North America.
Help us harness the power of photography to advance scientific knowledge, spread awareness of important issues and nurture a global love for nature.
