For more than a month, Verena photographed the reptile-like ridges of sandstone on Norway's Varanger Peninsula in all weather conditions.
'Every time I went, a new combination of light, tide and weather made the seaweed-covered rocks look different,' she says. 'Some colours were stronger when the rock was wet. Others reflected indirect sunlight well. Others were better in shade.' Eventually, on a stormy day at high tide, everything came together. Balanced on a slippery ridge, Verena used a long exposure to soften the water as a contrast to the rocks. 'On this day, the colour combination was pure magic.'
