  • The drawing is inscribed in black ink in a column on the right hand side of the sheet with an explanatory key; "REFERENC[ES] A-- Bed or upper carriage. in 2 peices bolted as Marked. O. BB-- Large iron-bars placed before the Or- -namental hoops, to secure the Gun in the Bed. C-- Coin, with a Stout Screw for the nicest Elivation, or Depression; it is arm'd at each end, with thick iron plates, work'd for the Screw. D-- Elivating or Depressing Screw. E-- Lower Carriage with a Shoulder that acts as a Hinge with the Bed F-- A Stout Iron-plate, loosely bolted, at each side, so as to admit the Bed working Free on its Hinge: On the other side, is, also One, and are secured by tw Screw plates; the ends of the Bolts, being work'd for that purpose. G-- Axle-trees, and Trucks; the Latter had better be Iron. H-- Slide upon which the Gun works, of very Stout Timber; it is Ledged up nearly to the Axles, and the whole very little wider than the carriage; not more, than suffici- -ent for recoiling with ease. K-- Hand spike, or Lever, for the Horizon- -tal direction L-- Eyebolt, for a Small Tackle; after Rain, the Wood being Swell'd & cc for the more easy working of the Slide M-- Cross-peices of the Slide N-- Corresponding semicircular Beam, for the slide to work easy on. O-- Platform PP-- Sleepers on which the Platform is laid R-- Iron-bolt very ^strong^ upon which the Slide works and what secures the slide to the Platform // Remark The Angle of the Platform is 5,,[degrees] 30' the Peice is of 24 lb French calibre represented in Profile with a sec- -tion of one of the Corica Towers en demi-barbel NB All the Red-lines shews the Interior Work in its Just Proportion".
