I was adviced to send a message to this address. I am
hoping that you would be able to help me. My question
is - are there such mites called "drosophila mites?"
Supposedly they are pinkish in colour and hamper the
mating of flies. If you know anything about these
mites or any mites that may infest drosophila cultures
please let me know. Thank you.

Subject:  XXI ICE Macrkophotography short course

Dear Entomologist

Mr. Denis Crawford is a professional photographer in Australia, and has
specialized in photographing insects, specially macro-photography (see
http://www.sercomtel.com.br/ice/photo.htm#photo) His book on insects of
Australia is a masterpiece of art and technique (see Melbourne University
Press book site at
http://www.mup.unimelb.edu.au/catalogue/0_522_84737_4.html ).

Mr Denis would consider delivering a macro photography short practice and
theoric course during the XXI ICE (ca. 10 h class & field). We consider the
fee for this short course would be US$30-50,00, depending on the number of
registrations we will have.

If you would consider participating in this course (no compromise from you
or from us up to this moment), pls send us a mail with the subject Photo
course, saying "yes, I would consider". In the case we have the necessary
number of interested people to cover the expenses of the course, we will
officially open the registration.

Thank you

You and your colleagues may be interested in the Soybean Insect Research
Information Center (SIRIC) database that is now available for the first
time via the Web.
http://insectweb.inhs.uiuc.edu/Soy/Siric

This bibliographic database was established in 1969 by the Illinois Natural
History Survey's Center for Economic Entomology to collect and index the
world's research literature on soybean-related arthropods.  The literature
is carefully indexed according to a thesaurus prepared by professional
entomologists.

The database may be of interest to those in Agriculture, Crop Science,
Entomology, Integrated Pest Management, Natural History and Biology/Zoology.

You are welcome to forward a printed or electronic notice about this
database to your members and colleagues, and place a link to it on your
website.

You are also welcome to forward copies of your publications on soybean
arthropods to SIRIC so we can include them in the database.

Subject: parasitic mite in wormbeds?

Does anyone have any idea what species or other taxonomic group of
mites is being referred to on this webpage?

<http://www.bae.ncsu.edu/bae/people/faculty/sherman/miteworm.html>

From doing my own vermicomposting, I know that parasitid and uropodid
mites
can do well in these circumstances, but I never imagined that one could
"attach itself to the worm and suck its blood or body fluid". The
illustration looks like it might be a uropodid, but it's not a very good
illustration.

ADDRESS :  NATIONAL SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE,  MEKNES BP S/40 MOROCCO

  Dear sir,

I am so delighted to write you this email. I inform you that I am a
student in a high school of agriculture from Morocco.

I am previously preparing a thesis about the pesticide mite resistance,
more specifically in Tetranychidae.

So I ask you, if it is possible, to send me some documents about that.
That would be very helpful to me.

  Truly yours

       With compliments
