The Photographer worked within the Director’s Office until 1948 when Sawyers became a member of the Exhibitions Section, where he stayed until he retired in 1970. He was succeeded by Peter Green as first head of the Photographic Section, which was transferred to the Department of Central Services in 1974.
Herbert George Herring (known as Kipper Herring) appointed 1890 as boy attendant in the Zoological Dept and later became 2nd Class Attendant. He doesn’t appear on the staff lists for the war years, but returned to employment in 1923 as the Museum Photographer. Succeeded by Maurice Sawyers in 1936.
Maurice Geoffrey Sawyers Appointed 1936. Post was vacant from about 1941 until 1946 when Sawyers returned to the post. Retrired 1970.
