DescriptionThe Scientific aspect of the supernatural: indicating the desirableness of an experimental enquiry by men of science into the alleged powers of clairvoyants and mediums. Book written by A R Wallace and published in London, F Farrah, 1866, contains 57 pages. Book covered in green cloth with gilt lettering. Pen and pencil annotations and marks throughout. On verso of front cover - signature of Alfred Russel Wallace. On verso of title page is written a quote "To punish men for their religion was a great crime to Elizabeth, for which she is is perhaps even now paying the penalty. "Buckle" in Fabers Mag, Feb 1867". Housed in folder book case with number and title on spine and front cover. Contains handwritten notes. First one stuck on endpaper is "Punch's Mother Medium". Stuck on the reverse is a scrap of paper with small writing on it - the heading says "Written under the table at Mrs Marshalls". 1 folded page is loose in the book and is a PS regarding a sighting of a man after he had died.
