| Description | Alfred Russel Wallace. Black and white photographic print, with tissue paper. Wallace is seated in a chair, with his arms on the arms of the chair. He is facing the camera but turning slightly to the left. He has his legs crossed (left leg over right), but we can only see as far down as the knees. There is a fern displaying at the bottom right hand corner of the photograph. Underneath the portrait is printed "from a portrait by the London Stereoscopic & Photographic Co. Ltd, 54 Cheapside, E.C.", and on the right is a printed signature of Alfred R Wallace. First of three identifical photos.
