Title	Dolly Varden
Description	Dolly Varden. B/w print taken from a book of the character Dolly Varden from Barnaby Rudge by Charles Dickens. The print shows Dolly standing under a tree admiring a bracelet on her left wrist. The novel is set in the Gordon riots of 1780 and the type of clothes worn by this character became known a s "Dolly Varden costume". Underneath the print is printed Dolly Varden, W P Frith RA. However this is not a print of the famous painting by Frith of the character. It is possibly an image produced by Phiz to illustrate a later edition of Barnaby Rudge or it could be by some one else entirely! The print is stuck onto a piece of card and a separate paper frame stuck around it. Notes: 14.5 x 11.5 cm onto card 24 x 16 cm. Subject: English literature
