Activity | Born on 28 February 1879 to a Greek father who was a British subject. Educated in Cairo, he went to Ethiopia were he worked as a medical dispenser in Harar, before working for the British East Africa protectorate from 1904 to 1911 on the Kenya/Ethiopia border. He then became First Interpreter at the Legation under the Minister, Wilfred Thesiger (1909-1919), with the title of Abyssinian Secretary. He became Vice Consul in 1915, and, in 1921 he was appointed Oriental Secretary and given a Royal Commission. He married in 1922 and had one son and one daughter.
