Activity	Zoologist Switched studies towards zoology after meeting Ray Lankester at University College, London. Goodrich became an assistant to Lankester who had just been elected to the Linacre Chair of Zoology at Oxford 1891. Awarded Rolleston Memorial Prize 1894. Obtained a First Class in Zoology in the Finial Honour School of Natural Science 1895. Awarded the Naples Biological Scholarship 1895. Goodrich then spent six months researching at the Stazione Zoologica. Elected fellow of Merton College 1900. Worked all over the world including numerous French marine biological stations. Fellow of the Royal Society 1905. Succeeded G C Bourne as Linacre Professor of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy at Oxford 1921-1945. Zoological Secretary of the Linnean Society 1915-1923. Editor of the 'Quarterly Journal of Microscopical Science' from 1921 until his death. He received many honours throughout his life.
Relationships	Father Reverend Octavius Pitt Goodrich, who died when he was two weeks old. Mother Frances Lucinda Parker. He had brother and a sister. Descended from Thomas Goodrich who became a Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge 1510, Bishop of Ely 1534 and Lord Chancelloe 1551. Married zoologist Dr Heln L M Pixell
