ActivityMuseum staff: Attended Repton School prior to studying zoology at London University, graduating 1937. Enlisted 1940 and commissioned as a lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps; posted to No. 7 Malaria Field Laboratory. Transferred to the Yellow Fever Research Institute at Yaba, Nigeria on 1 January 1945. Entered Museum 16 Jan 1947. Appointed Senior Scientific Officer at the BM (NH) in 1949; became involved in the study of mosquito genetics; Principal Scientific Officer 1 Jul 1953.
Member of the Genetical Society and of the committee of the zoology section of the British Association for the Advancement of Science 1954; later became member of the Council and the General Committee of the Association. Joined the W.H.O. Expert Advisory Panel on Parasitic Diseases in 1955. D. Sc. (London) Feb 1963. SPSO Aug 1968 (Special Merit). Joined the International Congress of Entomology in 1968. Retired 1979
