British botanist from Swaffham, Norfolk. He was employed by the British Museum (Natural History) (1894-1910) before joining the Liberian Rubber Company (1910-1913) as botanical collector. Most of his botanical collections were made as assistant director for agricultural research in Sierra Leone (1913) and latterly for the Gold Coast (Ghana) (1914-1929). During this period he specialised in plant pathology and made mycological collections now at the International Mycological Institute. Bunting joined the lmperial College Biological Field Station (1929-1934) before becoming Curator of the Dorset County Museum (1940-1944). [Source JSTOR]
