DescriptionDr David William Snow (1924-2009) joined the Bird Section in charge of birds in 1968, taking over from J.D.Macdonald. From 1969 he was Officer in Charge of Tring Museum overseeing the move of the bird collections from South Kensington to Tring. He was relieved of these duties at his own request in 1972 in order to give more time to research in what was at that time called the Sub-department of Ornithology. In 1976 he relinquished his responsibility as Head of the Sub-Department. In 1982 his The Cotingas was jointly published by BM(NH) and Oxford University Press. He retired in 1984 but continued working at the Museum entitled Visiting Research Fellow.

Many of his letters written before 1980 were filed with the main Bird Group correspondence (DF230)
