The ants were identified by the Natural History Museum in 2009 (NHM IIS 2008-1223) as being mostly Central and South American Legionary (Army) ants, Nomamyrmex esenbekii (Westwood), Hymenoptera: Formicidae (Ecitoninae); there were also some head capsules and some other mesosomal fragments of an Atta species, which are Leaf-cutter ants |
