Rocks, minerals and meteorites were arranged according to chemical composition and crystalline form. At the time of this picture in 1923, the pavilion at the eastern end of the gallery was dedicated to larger mineral specimens including the 3.5 tonne Cranbourne meteorite, which can be seen in the centre at the far end, which was found in 1854 in Victoria, Australia 2 copies of print and negative
