| Description | The site at Pasalar was found during the Turkish-German lignite survey of Turkey between 1965 and 1969. Early excavations were directed by Heinz Tobien, and afte 1983 excavatations were restarted by Peter Andrews and Dr Berna Alpagut on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Department of Antiquities, and the University of Ankara, Department of Paleoanthropology. Their work looked to excavate the Miocene deposits at Bursa- Pasalar, and covered the relams of: stratigraphy and taphonomy; palaeontology and palaeoecology; and hominoid descriptions
