| Description | Lists of core samples collected from HMS and RRS voyages.
J.D.H. Wiseman spent time in the Admirality where he developed a strong link with the Hydrographer of the Navy and his department. As a result, an arrangement was set up whereby every tenth sounding sample taken by the Royal Naval Survey ships was sent to the museum. Taken from: Kempe, D. R. C et al. Fifty Years of Oceanography in the Department of Mineralogy, British Museum (Natural History). London: British Museum Natural History, 1987. Print.
