| Description | This series contains a complete record of books, maps, serial parts, manuscripts and drawings presented to the General Library between 1884 and March 1947 (DF606/1-24), as well as a register for incoming serials covering the years 1880-1900 (DF606/33). In 1947 cataloguing and accessioning were centralised within the General Library, and subsequent volumes (DF606/25-32) contain purchase and donation records for all six libraries within the Museum. Four items consist of microfilm of correspondence of the Acquisitions Section from 1968 to 1973 (DF606/37-40): the originals having been destroyed. The statistical volumes (DF606/35-36) cover General Library accessions for 1901-1984 as well as cataloguing, press-marking and binding records which, in part, relate to all the libraries. DF606/41 contains the raw data from which the summary volumes, DF606/35 and DF606/36, were compiled. |
