| Description | The 'Wonders of the Natural History Museum' Exhibition was a permanent exhibition that opened 12 Aug 1993 and was located in the bays of Central Hall. The exhibition was designed to display some of the wonders of the natural world and the range of the Natural History Museum's collections. The exhibition took the original concept for the grand Central Hall laid down by Sir Richard Owen, the first director of the Natural History Museum, to provide an index to the galleries, and brought it up-to-date by linking objects to an instant touch-screen view with information in six languages. The exhibition included Diplodocus, an extinct giant ground sloth, an elephant bird egg, and a spider trapped in amber.
