These visits of scientific staff were carried out in order to identify efficiences and inefficiencies across the Museum, and initially as a way of appraising staff and making recommendations for promotion. As time progressed, it was made explicit that visits were not connected to pay, but as a means to improve communication between departments, and educate colleagues as to work carried out across the Museum. |
